Composition
From Gucci's Alchemist's Garden collection, launched in 2019. Pepper opens over a mimosa heart, settling into musk. A soft, powdery floral musk centered on mimosa.
To me this smells like a February morning in a Delhi farmhouse garden, when the mimosa trees are exploding with those soft yellow pom-pom flowers and the air is full of their powdery pollen. I walk through it and the blossoms dust my black sweater like turmeric on a white shirt. There's a faint crackle of black pepper in the air — like someone grinding fresh kali mirch in the kitchen nearby — but it never turns sharp, just wakes the flowers up. By afternoon it settles into something like clean cotton drying on a line, soft and close to the skin, a little sweet, a little warm. It is the smell of winter deciding to leave. Beginner-friendly.
