Composition
Windsor is a woody-aromatic eau de parfum for men by Olivier Creed, relaunched in 2009 as a limited edition after being originally created in 1936 for King Edward VIII. Its ingredients draw on the British Empire: British gin, Jamaican lime and Scottish highland pine in the top, Duke of Windsor roses in the heart, and Bahamian orange, Canadian cedar and Australian eucalyptus in the base.
To me this smells like the British Empire packed into a bottle and somehow making it charming — gin and Jamaican lime fizzing first, Scottish highland pine standing tall and green behind them. The Jamaican lime is green and zesty, like lime peel twisted over a glass of something cold. The Duke of Windsor rose blooms in the middle, proper and romantic, and the base of Bahamian orange, Canadian cedar and Australian eucalyptus is like a well-traveled library. Eccentric, colonial, and somehow very cool. History you can spray on. Beginner-friendly.
