Composition
Shaghaf Oud Aswad is a 2018 unisex Eau de Parfum from Swiss Arabian, the dark oud pillar of the Shaghaf line. An oriental woody built on rose, saffron and thyme over a spiced heart of oud, patchouli, cumin, coriander and jasmine, with a base of oud, leather, amber, sandalwood, vanilla and musk. Bold, sensual and made for cooler weather and evenings.
This is Shaghaf after dark. Saffron and rose strike first — rich, slightly medicinal, unmistakably Arabian — then the spices roll in: cumin and coriander giving it a warm, almost edible heat like garam masala blooming in ghee. The oud here is the real deal, smoky and animalic, wrapped in leather and amber. It smells like bakhoor smoke clinging to a sherwani after a winter wedding. Powerful projection, serious longevity. In India this is strictly an October-to-February evening scent. Beginners: not a blind buy — the cumin-oud combo divides people. Sample first.
