Composition
Fille en Aiguilles, launched in 2009 and created by Christopher Sheldrake, plays on a pun — 'girl in stilettos' and 'girl in needles' (pine needles). Candied fruit, laurel and spice open onto pine needles, fir balsam and vetiver over frankincense and sugary sap.
Fille en Aiguilles is Christmas in a pine forest — candied fruit and wintry spice melt into majestic pine needles, fir balsam and vetiver, then dissolve into a soft, smoky haze of frankincense and sugary sap. It is the rare pine fragrance that never smells like disinfectant: joyful, wintery and incredibly well-balanced, like a tender embrace on a cold winter's night. Made for the coldest months — in India it belongs to December hill-station trips and festive winter evenings. Not for beginners — its pine-resin character and niche intensity demand sampling first, but pine lovers will find perhaps the finest pine fragrance ever composed.
