Composition
Etat Libre d'Orange's notorious 2006 creation, composed around the idea of blood, sweat and skin. It opens with marine and saline aldehydes, moves into a provocative heart of blood, milk and adrenaline accords, and dries down on sandalwood, iris and opoponax. One of the most talked-about niche fragrances ever released.
I have to be honest about this one: it smells like a hospital room where something went wrong and something went right at the same time. Metallic blood, cold milk, sea salt on skin, adrenaline sharp as a needle — over sandalwood and powdery iris that try, valiantly, to make it civilized. It is the most infamous perfume ever made, and wearing it feels like performance art. Fascinating. Deeply strange. The opoponax tries to sweeten it — resinous, balsamic, almost kind — like someone offering you tea in a strange place. It doesn't help. Nothing helps. That's the art. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
