Composition
Sagamore is a masculine eau de toilette from Lancôme, launched in 1985. It opens with Clary Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, Lemon and Petitgrain. The heart reveals Carnation, Ginger, Jasmine, Cinnamon, Geranium, Lily-Of-The-Valley and Rose settling into a base of Sandalwood, Amber, Musk, Styrax, Patchouli, Benzoin and Vanilla. Its character is defined by Warm Spicy, Aromatic and Amber accords.
To me this smells like a barbershop in a black-and-white film — and the film is a good one. Clary sage and lavender and bergamot, crisp and herbal; carnation and cinnamon and ginger, spicy and warm, like aftershave from another century. There's powder here, and pride. Sandalwood and amber and benzoin and vanilla underneath, like the wooden counter and the warm towels; styrax and patchouli adding depth. It's old-school masculine done right — no irony, no apology. The smell of a man who still writes thank-you notes. Beginner-friendly.
