Composition
A Private Blend woody-aquatic for women and men launched in July 2017, created by Shyamala Maisondieu. Sea notes, sea salt and pink pepper open it; seaweed, agarwood oud and styrax form the heart; ambergris, balsam fir and pepperwood close it. The refreshing play of surf and sea against the burning flame of smoked wood.
To me this smells like a rocky shore where someone built a driftwood fire. Sea notes, sea salt, and pink pepper open briny and electric — actual ocean, not the blue-bottle idea of it — and then the heart turns strange: seaweed, agarwood oud, styrax, like smoke and salt and something ancient washed up on the beach. It is the most unusual thing in the Private Blend line. Ambergris, balsam fir, and pepperwood in the base keep it mineral and woody and wild. Salty, smoky, animalic — it smells like the sea decided to wear leather. Fascinating, and absolutely not a crowd-pleaser. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
