Composition
Organza is an Oriental Floral fragrance for women launched in 1996, created by Sophie Labbe in a bottle designed by Serge Mansau, debuting at the Givenchy Prêt-à-Porter show. A magical mix of classical sensuality, delicacy and warmth, it is composed of opulent white flowers — gardenia, tuberose and jasmine — with soft vanilla in the base taming the voluptuous luxuriance of the floral heart.
To me this smells like a 1996 couture show, front row. Nutmeg and mace open warm and spicy — the air backstage, all heat and nerves — and then the white florals arrive in force: gardenia creamy, tuberose heady, jasmine golden, honeysuckle sweet, peony soft, all piled high like a bouquet thrown at the finale. The vanilla-amber base is pure opulence, warm and enveloping, with guaiac and cedar giving it a woody backbone. It is big, warm, unapologetically feminine — from an era when evening perfume meant something. Beginner-friendly.
