A Private Blend chypre launched in 2007, created by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, Harry Fremont and Olivier Cresp. Saffron opens it; black rose, truffle and floral notes form the heart; patchouli, vanilla, agarwood oud and oakmoss close it. Dark and indulgent — black rose colliding with black truffle and patchouli.
Scent story
This smells like roses in a dark cellar where someone is also hunting truffle. Saffron opens leathery and strange, and then the black rose arrives — not a fresh rose, a midnight one, velvety and almost decayed-beautiful — with truffle giving it that earthy, fungal, unmistakably dark depth. It is a chypre that forgot to be polite. Patchouli, vanilla, agarwood oud, and oakmoss in the base make it resinous and animalic and endless. This is Tom Ford's Private Blend at its most gothic: floral, yes, but flowers at a funeral. Stunning, and not remotely safe. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
