Composition
Launched in 1988 as a classic masculine. Bergamot, lavender, rosemary, tarragon, nutmeg flower and lemon open over balsam fir, green notes, jasmine, geranium, rose, cyclamen and carnation, grounded in oakmoss, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, cedar, musk, amber and tonka bean. A rich, old-school aromatic fougere-style composition.
To me this smells like an Italian barbershop in 1988, all chrome and confidence. Bergamot and lemon open bright as aftershave splashed on, lavender and rosemary hum herbal and classic underneath, and tarragon adds a strange green anise edge — like the barber's secret tonic. Geranium and carnation keep it floral and old-school. Oakmoss, sandalwood and amber settle like the smell of the shop itself: wood, leather, and permanence. A fougère from the golden age — dignified, green, and utterly sure of itself. Beginner-friendly.
