Composition
M7 by Yves Saint Laurent is a captivating fragrance featuring woody, oud, ambery accords. It opens with Bergamot, Mandarin, transitions to a heart of Oud, and settles into a base of Amber, Vetiver. A timeless creation for the modern connoisseur.
To me it smells like an old Moroccan souk at dusk, the light going amber through the dust. Bergamot and mandarin flash bright at the start, and then the oud hits — raw, medicinal, ancient — nothing like the smooth ouds of today. Amber, vetiver and musk try to civilize it, and mostly they don't. This was the scent that brought oud to the West in 2002, and it still smells like a dare. Dark, strange, and utterly uncompromising. A piece of perfume history that bites. Not for beginners. Beginners stay away.
