Composition
Launched in August 2021 by IFF master perfumers Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim, Luna Rossa Ocean reimagines the classic fougère. Bergamot, pink pepper and artemisia open bright, a powdery iris accord sits at the core with lavender, sage, suede and saffron, and musk, caramel, Haitian vetiver and patchouli form the base. Jake Gyllenhaal fronts the campaign; it comes as a 50 and 100 ml EDT.
To me this is the open sea at dawn — bergamot and pink pepper bright as spray, artemisia green as the deep water. Lavender, iris, and sage are the clean air above the waves, suede and saffron the sun-warmed deck, and musk, caramel, and Haitian vetiver underneath are salt drying on skin. The suede is soft and smooth as the name, and the Haitian vetiver is green and a little smoky — the sea, but make it tailored. The original Ocean: a fougère reimagined for open water. Fresh, musky, and endlessly wearable. Beginner-friendly.
