Composition
Launched in 2024, Le Sel d'Issey is a woody-aquatic eau de toilette for men created by perfumer Quentin Bisch. A bracing salt accord and ginger open the scent, followed by seaweed and vetiver in the heart. Cedarwood and oakmoss form the dry, earthy base.
To me this smells like the ocean reduced to its essence — sea salt on the lips, ginger sharp as cold water, then seaweed and vetiver like kelp on black rocks, green and mineral and alive. The base is driftwood: cedarwood and oakmoss, dry and salty, the smell of a beach after the tide goes out. It is Issey Miyake stripped to the bone — no flowers, no sweetness, just salt and wood and wind. The most honest marine ever made. Beginner-friendly.
