Composition
Hyakutake is a unisex extrait de parfum from Tiziana Terenzi, launched in 2023 in the Comet Collection and created by Paolo Terenzi. It opens with Eucalyptus, Calabrian Bergamot, Cardamom and Lemon, reveals a heart of Orris, Ambergris, Incense and Pansy, and settles into Australian Sandalwood, Haitian Vetiver, Larch, Tobacco and Musk. Its character is defined by woody, aromatic and citrus accords.
To me this smells like a Japanese temple garden in winter, after rain. Eucalyptus and bergamot and lemon, cold and camphorous as breath in frosty air; cardamom sharp as a temple bell. Incense smoke drifts from somewhere you can't see, thin and grey. Orris and pansy add a powdery violet softness, like moss on stone; sandalwood and vetiver and larch, dark and woody; tobacco leaf smouldering at the edges. Ambergris gives it a strange oceanic depth. It's meditative and severe at once — the smell of sitting still in the cold until your mind goes quiet. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
