Composition
A Private Blend leather launched in September 2017, debuting at the New York Fashion Week show. Lavender and clary sage open it; leather, bitter almond, vanilla and orris form the heart; leather, tonka bean, cashmeran, white woods and amber close it. An audacious leather built on bitter almond oil, tonka resinoid, orris root and clary sage oil.
To me this is a leather atelier in Florence — lavender and clary sage bright at the door, then leather, real and supple, over bitter almond and vanilla. Orris powders it cool, tonka and cashmeran soften the edges, but the leather never leaves: it is in the walls, the aprons, the hands. The white woods and amber at the base are pale and glowing, and they keep the leather from going heavy — luxury that wears light. Tom Ford's leather manifesto: smooth, expensive, and unapologetic. It smells like money that is not afraid of itself. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
