Égoïste by Chanel is a men's Woody Spicy fragrance launched in 1990 as an Eau de Toilette. It opens with Brazilian rosewood, coriander, Sicilian mandarin and mahogany, moves through a heart of cinnamon, Damask rose and carnation, and dries down to sandalwood, tobacco, vanilla, leather, amber and ambrette.
Scent story
To me this smells like a library where someone is smoking a very good cigar. Brazilian rosewood and mahogany open first, polished wood and spice, coriander and Sicilian mandarin brightening the gloom. The heart is pure romance — cinnamon, Damask rose, carnation — like dried flowers pressed between the pages of an old book. Then sandalwood, tobacco, and vanilla settle in, leather and amber glowing underneath. Proud, warm, and utterly itself. A rewarding wear for the curious.
