Composition
Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy Ambre Velours is an Oriental Floral fragrance for women launched in 2013 in a dark purple bottle, a sensual evening interpretation of the 2010 original. Dark plum and pink pepper announce an intensive velvety rose heart strengthened with patchouli and cedarwood, while the base gives overwhelming heat from opoponax, tolu balsam, benzoin, amber and smoky tonka.
To me this smells like velvet after midnight — dark plum and pink pepper opening rich and a little dangerous, then a velvety rose heart blooming huge, strengthened by patchouli and cedarwood until it feels like fabric you could touch. Tolu balsam, amber, opoponax, benzoin and tonka melt through the base like candlewax and honey. It is the sensual evening version of Eaudemoiselle: darker, deeper, unapologetically grown-up. Pink pepper strikes the first match — bright, rosy, a little dangerous. Beginner-friendly.
