Composition
Patricia de Nicolaï's tribute to her father's cigar boxes: fresh licorice, anise and mint over a floral heart of magnolia and ylang, drying down to dry tobacco leaf, hay, cedar and animalic warmth. Evocative, atmospheric and utterly distinctive.
To me this smells like cutting anise with a pocketknife, the fresh wound of the wood releasing licorice into the air. Then sage, lavender, geranium, ylang ylang, magnolia and coriander spread — smooth as poured honey, right on cue. The base of tobacco, hay, patchouli, cedar, musk, civet and liatris arrives last, like a memory you can't place, and refuses to leave. It leaves you smelling like a room you never want to leave. Beginner-friendly — just know it arrives before you do.
