Composition
Bois d'Argent is a 2004 La Collection Privée creation by Annick Ménardo, a unisex eau de parfum whose name means 'silver woods'. It pairs iris, cypress and juniper with myrrh and patchouli over a honeyed amber-vanilla-leather base.
Bois d'Argent smells like moonlight on a forest floor — silvery iris up top, cool and rooty, giving way to resinous myrrh and a honeyed warmth that never turns gourmand. The leather and amber in the base add a quiet smokiness, like distant agarbatti. It is one of the great understated Dior privées: elegant, contemplative, and absolutely not for showing off. Beginners may find the iris-myrhh pairing unusual at first — sample before committing, but give it a full wearing.
