Composition
The first Bentley fragrance, by Nathalie Lorson (2013). Black pepper, bay leaf and bergamot open onto rum, cinnamon and clary sage over a luxurious base of leather, benzoin, patchouli and cedar.
To me this smells like a vintage jacket with a past — Bay leaf, herbal and dry, black pepper, sharp and crackling and bright bergamot, sparkling citrus dark, smooth and full of stories. At the heart, Rum, dark and molasses-sweet, cinnamon, warm and fiery, woody notes, dry and textured and clary sage, herbal and musky-green unfold like a second act — richer, warmer, more intimate. There is a warm spicy hum running through all of it, tying every layer together. It closes on Leather, dark and supple, benzoin, warm golden resin, patchouli, dark and earthy-sweet and dry cedar, pencil-shaving woods, a finish that feels both clean and indulgent. It feels like a deep breath you did not know you needed. Beginner-friendly — soft, sweet, and impossible to dislike.
