Composition
Asam Shamama Supreme is a traditional alcohol-free attar from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, crafted by Asam & Co Perfumers. Pure oil — a drop or two is enough, and it blooms with body heat.
Shamama is not a perfume, it is a heritage. This Kannauj attar opens with saffron and a dark storm of spices, then the oud rises, deep and resinous, with kewda adding a strange green-floral lift like rain on wildflowers. Underneath it all, amber and sandalwood hold the whole thing together like the foundation of an old building. To me it smells like the inside of a copper deg still warm from distillation, centuries of craft in a single drop. This is India before perfumery had marketing. Not for beginners. Beginners stay away.
