Composition
Ani is a warm spicy-floral extrait inspired by the ancient Armenian city. It opens with bergamot, green notes, blue ginger and pink pepper, blooms into blackcurrant, Turkish rose and cardamom, and settles into patchouli, cedarwood, vanilla, benzoin, ambergris, musk and sandalwood.
To me this is a spice market in Istanbul at dusk — bergamot and green notes and blue ginger and pink pepper bright as lanterns, then blackcurrant and Turkish rose and cardamom, dark and sweet, like the crowd itself. The base is patchouli and cedarwood and vanilla and benzoin and ambergris and musk and sandalwood, warm and deep, like the stones of the bazaar. It is Nishane's love letter to the East: spicy, woody, and utterly captivating. A journey you take again and again. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
