Composition
Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women launched in 2011, a deeper, richer and more sensual Eau de Parfum version of the 2009 original that brings its seductiveness to its climax. The composition opens with freshness of Italian lemon, green tea and neroli, the heart is white flowers of sambac jasmine, orange blossom and frangipani, and the base is vanilla, patchouli, cedar and white musk. Uma Thurman fronted the campaign.
To me this smells like a secret being whispered in a garden at dusk. Tea and Amalfi lemon open bright and refined — iced tea with lemon on a terrace — with neroli adding a green orange-blossom sparkle. Then the white florals deepen: jasmine narcotic, frangipani creamy and tropical, African orange flower golden. The vanilla-patchouli base is where the demon lives — warm, sweet, a little dark — with Virginia cedar and musk keeping it elegant. It is the deeper, richer sister of the original, and it knows exactly what it is doing. Beginner-friendly.
