Composition
50 Years Platinum Oud by Al Haramain is an eau de parfum unisex, launched in 2021. It opens with Cardamom and Black Pepper; the heart features Dry Wood, Cedar and Vetiver; and the base is Amber, Musk and Tonka Bean. The composition reads predominantly woody, warm spicy and amber.
To me this is old teak furniture in a spice godown — cardamom and black pepper first, warm and crackling, then dry wood and cedar rising up all around, vetiver adding green earthiness underneath. It smells like the inside of a very old, very good shop. Amber, musk, and tonka in the base turn it golden and smooth — like the wood's been polished by a century of hands. It is woody-spicy comfort: no oud despite the name, just warm timber and spice done beautifully. Understated, masculine, and quietly luxurious. Beginner-friendly.
