Composition
1920 The Origin is a masculine eau de parfum from Tous, launched in 2017 and created by Daphné Bugey. It opens with Bergamot, Cardamom and Black Pepper, reveals a heart of Cumin, Tea and Jasmine, and settles into Cedar, Patchouli and Ambergris. Its character is defined by spicy, aromatic and woody accords.
To me this is a 1920s tea room where someone ordered the strangest chai — bergamot and cardamom first, bright and aromatic, then black pepper and cumin rolling in like a spice caravan. The cumin is the shock: warm, human, almost animalic, like skin after dancing. Tea and jasmine float above the spices, elegant and composed; cedar, patchouli, and ambergris in the base turn it woody and salty-sweet. It smells like decadence with a pulse — Gatsby after midnight. Not for the faint of heart, and that's the point. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
