Composition
Released in 2013, inspired by Ernest Hemingway. Juniper, black pepper and bergamot open into cinnamon, iris and orange blossom, over vanilla, amber and vetiver. Adventurous and warmly spiced.
To me this smells like a writer's study in a colonial bungalow, the kind with a ceiling fan turning slow overhead and maps curling on the walls. Juniper snaps first — gin-clear and green — with black pepper and bergamot fizzing like the first sip of something strong at noon. Then cinnamon warms the whole room, powdery iris and orange blossom softening it into something almost tender, like old letters tied with ribbon. The drydown is pure comfort: vanilla and amber sinking into vetiver like lamplight sinking into wood. It smells like adventure remembered fondly rather than lived dangerously — the romance of the story, not the hardship of it. Bold, warm, and quietly charming. Beginner-friendly.
